A : There are few preventive treatments. And what you need depends on your oral condition which will be explained during consultation.
1) Oral Hygiene Reinforcement
The easiest and most important preventive treatment is Oral Hygiene (OH) reinforcement. These reinforcements are paired with essential cleaning tools to help with teeth cleaning at home. It is important to practice a good OH regiment at home to maintain healthy gums and caries free teeth. 2) Scaling and Polishing
Bi-annual scaling and polishing are also regarded as one of preventive treatments. Removing plaque and tar tar is essential to keep the gums healthy. 3) Fluoride Varnish
Fluoride Varnish is a preventive treatment to incorporate fluoride into the enamels making it more resistant to dental caries. We advice to get them done every 6 months. These are suitable for kids and adult.
4) Silver Diamine Fluoride
Silver Diamine Fluoride or SDF is used to stop caries progression before becomes worse and reaches the pulp. This is used to control caries in early childhood caries in kids.
5) Fissure Sealant
Fissure sealants are a great preventive treatment to prevent caries happening on the molar teeth. Fissures are part of the molar anatomy and in some individuals , these fissures are deep and have an a bottle neck design. This cases food to be impacted in the fissures and makes them hard to clean. Caries then develops inside these fissures and sometime they only realise it when they feel pain and the caries reaches the pulp.
